MSC Herbarium

Fagus GrandifoliaCome explore the vast diversity of the plant kingdom! The MSC Herbarium represents a worldwide collection of all groups of plants as well as lichens, bryophytes, and fungi. Current holdings number over 530,000 specimens. The mission of a herbarium is to preserve and document the diversity of plants- from duckweed to sequoias. So if you love things that grow, bring your whole family to enjoy the Herbarium on the MSU campus. The Michigan State University Herbarium is located in the basement in the east wing of the Plant Biology Building (on some University maps, this building is labeled as Plant Biology Laboratories). The building is south of Wilson Road and west of Bogue Street. The main entrance to the Herbarium is at the bottom of the southeast stairwell.
