This is a chance to see the original part of campus in detail. It is where Spartan agricultural influence began, which is evident in the beautiful landscapes and early 20th century architecture. Come see where MSU began as Michigan Agricultural College. The MSU Museum houses biological and archeological collections and is the home of the Michigan Traditional Arts Program, a statewide program in partnership with Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs. Your students will love to see the dinosaur greeting its guests. Covered in ivy and quietly perched above the Red Cedar River is the MSU Alumni Memorial Chapel. This one of a kind, all denominations chapel was designed after those in WWII era Europe. Many of its stones are actually from chapels that were bombed during the war. Known not only for it’s historical importance, the chapel is also an extremely popular place for alumni who want a Spartan-style wedding. Known by most Spartans as one of the most recognizable landmarks on campus, Beaumont Tower is also the largest musical instrument on the campus of MSU. It contains a system of bells, which collectively, along with many other parts and pieces, makes up the instrument, which is called a carillon. Since the Tower was built in 1928 it has seen many changes in its surroundings while remaining a true symbol of the University. Not everything is on the internet! Open 24 hours a day during the week, the main branch of the MSU Library is the place that you can get the info you need.
